Synopsis
Fairies is the story of three dysfunctional brothers Rob, Jake, and Patsy.
Their dad scrapes a living in the dying trade of the kiss-o-gram. His most popular character? The Pink Fairy. As if that wasn’t desperate enough, he then gets cancer. The three brothers are then thrust together in their hometown of Stoke-on-Trent.
Their dad was always eccentric. He was also once the life of the party and they adored him somehow through shit-tinted shades. They've since grown bitter and resentful of his antics. Each holds a sadness at what they've become and a hope that one day he might get his act together. That way they might have a little more time with him and each other.
This series unfurls the brother's return to their hometown to make amends for their past. They re-discover their brotherhood whilst they try to resuscitate their dad's legacy.
Background
I won the BAFTA Rocliffe Forum List Comedy with this script. Which was pretty sweet. This project is currently available for development.
“Dysfunctional family groups often provide laughs as they struggle along together and there’s a sweet sort of sadness to this one, it is the sense of pathos amidst the daftness that gives this story an edge.”
